Squidoo for Beginners

Get Started With Squidoo
Much like websites such as HubPages or WordPress, Squidoo allows users to create pages of articles (called “Lenses” or “Squids”) that they can use to link information and make money.
The money is not normally earned from the article itself per se, but rather mostly from ads that link to the article. Google AdSense or a similar online affiliate administers most money-making ads.
Don’t expect to get rich using third-party links like AdSense, though, because, at best, the most you will probably earn is a few cents.
This pay-per-click advertising is not the best way to earn a living, but will add a few dollars here and there for your time. There are other ways to earn money using Squidoo easily.
I find that squidoo is a great testing ground for new niches, new markets and new keywords. you don’t have to launch a whole new website, you can drive your marketing efforts to your hub or your squidoo landing page. You can also pick up great information from your squidoo stats pages once they have a little traffic.
Squidoo For Dummies
While you do not have to know HTML code in order to build your first few lenses, it will be a good idea to start learning the basics of HTML pretty fast. The concept is not very difficult to master, and most of the process is learning what symbols and phrases accomplish which tasks. HTML is a good way to insert pictures, add borders and/or highlights, change fonts or align the paragraph, and much more.
How You Earn Money.
Partner with companies such as eBay and Amazon in order to promote different products within your lens. These do not have to be products that you are auctioning, or even things that you own, but products that you will permit to be linked to the lens. For example, if your lens is about Coca-cola, link to eBay and Amazon items that relate to Coca-cola, like t-shirts, books, or hats. EBay and Amazon split the profits with you by a predetermined ratio.
If you have your own items for sale, use your Squidoo lens to market those items. For instance, handmade craft items, Webkinz, Beanie Babies, or other for-sale-by-owner items can be used to make money on Squidoo in this manner. Use your lens to generate traffic where you want it to go.
Do not overlook the importance of marketing yourself. Wherever you have the opportunity, put your name out for people to see. Whether it be a personal blog site, social networking site (Facebook or MySpace, for instance), or a discussion board, allowing people to see who you are and what you have to offer is important. Link back to the lens, and you have created traffic flow that will generate income.
Summary
It’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with Squidoo, it’s not a foolproof way to make a million dollars overnight. It’s important to learn what people want to read about and make it work for you. Unless you have insider knowledge of certain products, keep it very simple and link only to what you understand. Read the Terms and Conditions for each website that you link with, and understand the information presented there before you sign on the virtual dotted e-line.
